Last night was a night I will never forget! It has been a long journey from an old guitar and notebook of poems and words to hearing my music being broadcast WORLDWIDE over Howick Village Radio in Auckland, New Zealand.
I cannot begin to thank the many people that have been there along this road. The nights dreaming of hearing my words set to music finally came true with the completion of my first CD. So I thought, well there, I set out to give my songs a life and put them out there for some to hear. There was the boxes of CDs sitting in my living room waiting for – WHAT NOW? The dream had come true as far as I dared hope.
Through a friend, Carol, I was introduced one day to one of her friends, Leanne, who would become my angel in New Zealand. Leanne heard the music and expressed how much she loved it. Well, let me tell you, I have found out that when a ‘KIWI” (New Zealander) likes something they are ready to tell the world! And that is what happened. Leanne introduced my music to a DJ she knew in New Zealand and in a matter of HOURS I was nervously sitting before my computer listening as a man with a great accent was telling his listeners how he had tossed out his playlist and was going to be featuring this wonderful new artist on his show. The kind words about made me blush and they just kept coming from Gavvy and his listeners. So here I am, a Country Boy, wondering if last night really happened or if I am still dreaming.
My undying gratitude to Leanne Manaro, for giving this CD wings and to the Gavvy Gav show (Gavin Gosney) over Howick Village Radio for his kind words and encouragement. It truly has been an Independence Day that I will not forget.
I hope all who hear my songs find something in some that they can relate to.
I dedicated this CD to my Mom and a man who was like a big brother to me in my youth. Two people who mean/meant the world to me.
And yes Alan… there ARE angels among us!!!
